Lorain County Solid Waste Management District to Host Agricultural Tire Collection Day
The Lorain County Solid Waste Management District is pleased to once again offer its Agricultural Tire Collection Day, scheduled to take place on Thursday, September 25, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. This special collection event, held every other year, offers Lorain County residents a convenient and environmentally responsible way to dispose of old farm tires and semi-truck tires. In 2023, the District collected over 162 tons of tires, marking the largest turnout to date.
This event is only open to Lorain County residents. Unfortunately, tire dealers and businesses are not eligible to participate. Those wishing to participate must pre-register and receive an appointment time by calling our Administrative Assistant Chris Hevener at (440) 329-5440 or emailing at chevener@loraincounty.us. During registration you will be asked how many tires you’re bringing, the sizes of the tires and you will be assigned a specific drop-off time.
The location of the event will be the Lorain County Collection Center (South Parking Lot), 540 S. Abbe Road, Elyria, 44035. Due to the specialized nature and size of these tires, there will be a $1.00 per tire fee collected to help support recycling efforts. This fee should be prepaid via check that may be dropped off or mailed in prior to the event. Arrangements may be made at time of registration.
Passenger vehicle tires (on or off the rim, up to 20-inch rim diameter) are accepted year-round at the Collection Center during normal business hours, free of charge for Lorain County residents (limit 10 tires per visit).
