2022 District Activities

The Board approved a working budget of approximately $1.9 million.  More than 2/3rds of the funds are going towards storm water infrastructure projects. Most of the funding is divided into either District Project funds, Community Grant funds, Planning Grants, and Mini Grants, with some funds available to respond to log jam removals and other emergency situations.

A District Project is one that is typically of a very large scale or of a particular urgent need in partnership with local community.  Two larger projects being undertaken by the District are currently in the beginning design phase.  The District is currently working with Lagrange Township and the Village of Lagrange to submit a petition for the cleaning and restoration of Kelner Ditch.

The District is currently accepting applications for our smaller grant programs.  Community Grant applications are due by March 31, 2022 each year.   Mini-Grant applications which are awarded on a first come first serve basis as long as the project meets the requirements.  The District has a working budget of $50,000 for mini grants with a maximum award of $7,500 per grant.  Communities can also submit Planning Grant applications at this time for 2022 projects.   There is a budget of $20,000 for planning grants with a maximum award of $4,000 per grant.
